It’s almost time for the Santa Maria Indian’s youth clinic. This year, the event will be held July 15 to 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Elks Field in Santa Maria.
The youth clinic will be led by the Santa Maria Indians head coach and former professional baseball player Bobby Brown, who has more than 10 years of professional baseball experience, and Ryan Ruiz, assistant coach at Central Arizona College. Coaches Marc Smith, formerly of the Paso Reds and current Cal Poly infielder, and Indian’s coach Scott Domingues will also be conducting the clinics, along with several of the Santa Maria Indians players.
Cost for the four-day camp is $50 and registration is open for kids in kindergarten through eighth grades. Campers will receive instruction, a T-shirt, snacks, and beverages. They will also be admitted free to all home games that week, and honored on the field with the Indians before the
July 18 game. Kids can also enjoy a private autograph ceremony following the Friday, July 18, game.
To reserve a spot, send an e-mail with your child’s name, phone number, address, and age to clinics@santamariaindians.com. Registration forms can be picked up at Simas Sporting Goods or at an Indians home game. For more information, call the Indians at 345-1872.
