The Wildling Museum has announced the 2014-2015 season of Natural History Field Classes with Fred and Larry, a series that takes place throughout Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara County with local naturalists Dr. Fred Emerson and Larry Ballard on the third Saturday of the month from September through May. The season includes trips to two private ranches and local beaches with plenty of information about plants, birds, geology, and more natural history.
The program includes a trip to Rancho San Carlos de Jonata on Sept. 20, Birds of Las Cruzitas Ranch on Oct. 18, Fall Color: Kinevan Road on Nov. 15, Urban forest: Trees of Solvang on Dec. 20, Coal Oil Point on Jan. 17, Natural History of Arroyo Hondo Preserve on Feb. 21, Wildflowers of Lisque Canyon, Sedgwick Reserve on March 21, Fire-followers and Fire Ecology, Aliso Canyon on April 18, and the Santa Ynez River Estuary on May 16.
All classes meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and cost $25āor $20 for museum members. A season pass is available for all nine classes for $200āor $160 for museum members. More information is available at 686-8315 or wildlingmuseum.org.
