Two art shows in the ā€œCity of Arts and Flowersā€ recently produced flower-themed artwork for the public to gaze upon—and vote on. Lompoc’s Grossman Gallery hosted two shows in April, including an art show of all iris-themed art, ā€œThe Art of the Iris,ā€ which ran for the entire month and the Annual Iris Show of the Lompoc Valley Iris Society, which was concurrent with the art show on April 24 and 25. Both shows allowed the public to vote for their favorites.

Out of the 46 paintings, drawings, photographs, ceramics, and needlework by 22 Santa Barbara County artists in the art show, first prize went to Judy Stevens for her quilted wall-hanging, second place to Judith Grames-Lyra for her watercolor Garden Angels, and third prize to Chris Jeszeck for her aristocratic oil painting Ruffled Fantasy. The winning art will be on display at the Vandenberg Village Branch of the Lompoc Library from May 1 to 29. The Branch Library is at 3755 Constellation Road. For more information, call 735-8034 or the library at 733-3323.
