The Student Aviation Club at the Santa Ynez Valley Airport held its first meeting Feb. 18 and will continue to meet. The club welcomes students ages 8 to 18 for its following meetings on March 18 and April 15.
Club attendees will learn about aviation and aeronautics from local pilots. Students who participate will be eligible to apply for various flight scholarships. There is no cost to attend.
Free airplane rides will be offered to students at the March 18 meeting and at upcoming a Young Eagles events hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), including Airport Day at the Santa Ynez Valley Airport on May 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Student Aviation Club meets at 10 a.m. in hangar J-6 at the Santa Ynez Valley Airport, 900 Airport Road, Santa Ynez. More info: allenmaris@gmail.com.
