In its 37th season, the Santa Ynez Valley Performing Arts Company is proud to present An Invitation to Dance. Summer performances will be held at the Santa Ynez High School Little Theater on June 17, 18, and 20 starting at 7 p.m. each night.

“This presentation showcases the elegance and refinement of ballet and lyrical, the excitement and fun of jazz and tap, and trendy hip-hop,” according to press materials. “All of these styles will be set to a tapestry of sounds ranging from pure classical ballet and opera music to iconic Broadway show tunes.”

Some dancers are performing for the first time, while others are celebrating many years with the studio.

Christine Fossemalle, the studio’s artistic director and owner, feels it’s her responsibility to teach dance traditions to the next generation. Plus, it’s her passion.

“I’m so happy, and I have a lot of people who really appreciate what I’m doing, so it’s very rewarding,” she told the Sun in December.

Along with the students, Fossemalle and four other choreographers dedicated time to make the show possible, too.
