As part of the Leadership Santa Maria Valley Legacy Project, the city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is seeking an artist to design a double-sided mural at Jim May Park. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that “convey the culture and history of the Santa Maria Valley,” according to press materials.
Submissions to the contest are due no later than Thursday, Sept. 30 (at midnight). A panel of judges will select the winning artist, who will receive a $5,500 stipend to complete the mural, and a supply reimbursement of up to $2,000.
