Celicia’s poster is on display at local government offices and facilities and she will receive a prize, according to a release from the city. It depicts a trio of young girls enjoying a sunny day playing at the park. A ā€œNo Smokingā€ sign and a ā€œNo Litteringā€ sign are prominent among the playground in the crayon drawing.

The poster contest is part of an effort to involve the community in keeping parks clean and smoke free. The city’s new smoking ordinance bans smoking from parks and other public spaces such as plazas and courtyards adjacent to municipal facilities and city-owned parking lots.Ā

The ban includes vaporizers and e-cigarettes, as well as ignited plants. Any violation of the ordinance results in a $100 administrative citation. More info: 925-0951, Ext. 2260, or cityofsantamaria.com.Ā  Ā  Ā
