The Santa Maria Public Library—along with its Orcutt, Guadalupe, and Cuyama branches—will kick off the Read to the Rhythm summer reading program on June 15. The program continues through Aug. 8 with three groups available for adults, teens, and children.
Adult attendees can participate by signing up and visiting the library during each week of the program. Visitors will receive raffle tickets each week they visit. The teen program is based upon the number of pages read. Reaching 1,000 pages earns a prize pack that includes a raffle ticket for a Kindle Fire and an Amazon gift card good for $100.
The Read to the Rhythm program for kids is scored with stickers, which are earned by completing designated amounts of reading time. Kids receive prizes based on the number of stickers earned. There will also be music-themed programs and activities available as part of the program.
