Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 23 for the Santa Maria Civic Theatre’s next production, Doubt. The play, written by John Patrick Shanley (the 2008 film version starred Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman), will be directed by Stuart Wenger. Performances at the theater, 1660 N. McClelland St., in Santa Maria, run Feb. 4 through 26, 2011.

The four characters are Sister Aloysius Beauvier (age range: 50s/60s); Father Brendan Flynn (late 30s); Sister James (20s); and Mrs. Muller (a black woman in her late 30s). The story: Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. For more information, call Stuart Wenger at (909) 239-0150.
