The city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Commission recently announced the winners of the 25th annual Lights, Sights, and Holiday Nights Decorating Contest. A total of 37 entries were considered by the contest’s judges, which is the highest number of submissions the yearly contest has received to date, according to the city.Ā

The following families each won an award in their respective categories: the Gonzalez family, 1028 W. Cypress, for Best Decorated Rookie; the Price family, 526 Boscoe Court, for the Country Christmas Award; the Kosmala family, 801 S. Miller, for the Home Spun Holiday Award; the Salinas family, 225 S. Oakley, for the California Dreamin’ Award; and the Melena family, 1051 W. Stowell, for the Simply Christmas Award.

The city also announced this year’s inductees into the contest’s Holiday Hall of Fame: Michael Clayton, 400 E. Orange; the Melena family, 515 N. Lucas; the Bernard family, 228 S. Linda; the Hindle family, 1030 Cortez; the Cardona family, 2040 Lassen; the Dickerson family, 104 Palm Court; and the Urquhart family, 1026 Butterfly Court.Ā

This year’s contest was a collaboration between People for Leisure and Youth (PLAY), and Santa Maria’s Recreation and Parks Department and Recreation and Parks Commission.
