Love rock climbing? The high-altitude pines of the Los Padres National Forest will be the stage for the Pine Mountain Pulldown, a three-day climbing festival held from Oct. 8 through 10.

The event’s main draw is bouldering—scaling smaller rock faces with only a pair rubber-soled climbing shoes—and kicks off with a welcome for climbers and vendors and an exclusive showing of the ā€œReel Rock Tour,ā€ a collection of climbing video vignettes. On Day Two, competitors will be bused up to the all-day bouldering competition set on the top of Pine Mountain. Many competition levels will be open, from beginners to big-name professional climbers and teams.

Evening activities include tug-of-war, crash-pad sumo wrestling, and a dyno competition, in which climbers attempt to launch themselves 10 feet in the air or more to reach a hold. The day ends with a live show from rockabilly group Cadillac Angels.

The festival wraps up with a pancake feed and an Adopt-A-Crag cleanup to remove trash left behind from the event.

Entry into the competition costs $65, including camping and festival entry. Attendees can opt out of the competition and join the festival for $25. Day-of registration will be $75 for the competition and $30 for the festival. Food will be available to buy at the venue.
