See more than 130 quilts on display at the 2009 Garden Party Quilt show, set for Sept. 26 and 27 at the Anderson Recreation Center, 125 W. Walnut Ave., in Lompoc from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission costs $5 per person.

There will also be 40 colorful 12-inch-square mini-quilts for raffle. These decorator quilts are made up in a variety of patterns from traditional to the sill and come with a wire hanger. The drawing will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Also on display will be Springtime in Hawaii, the guildās 2009 Opportunity quilt. Made by longtime guildmember Bernice Zwaduk, the 88-by-100-inch quilt includes many colorful Hawaiian prints.

New to the show will be four Make It and Take It workshops each day. Visitors can sign up for a one-hour workshop to learn how to make one projectāeither a flower pincushion in a soda bottle cap, a rusched ribbon flower, a button bouquet, or a mini appliquĆ©. A demonstration of free-motion quilting will be offered on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.

Other activities will include a vintage sewing machine display and vendors selling quilting-related items.
