Visitors will have to journey up to an old bunker to see artwork by Cole Sternberg at Presqu’ile Winery in Santa Maria, which is up until Sept. 20. The collaboration is supported by the Los Angeles Nomadic Division, an organization that connects people to places through art.
Sternberg is a conceptual artist who paints, sculpts, performs, photographs, and writes. He lives and works in California.
Opening day for the exhibit, called “along the high embankments,” will be celebrated on June 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at a bunker (2510 E. Clark Ave. in Santa Maria) on the winery’s property. Family-friendly activities will be coordinated for the event by the local nonprofit, Corazón del Pueblo. The event also features live music and is open to the public free of charge.
“Like winemaking at Presqu’ile, contemporary art balances tradition and experimentation, offering new ways of seeing time-honored processes,” the winery announced in press materials.
Presqu’ile Winery has a history of bringing creativity into the wine world, like with its art vending machine that debuted in the tasting room earlier this year.
Visit the winery to see the exhibit and to enjoy a glass of wine at 5391 Presqu’ile Drive in Santa Maria. The tasting room is open on weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays) and weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow @presquilewine on Instagram for all the views.

Make reservations to see the exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. at no cost by visiting eventbrite.com. The bunker is accessed separate from the tasting room.
