The Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) presents its summer production of Into the Woods, which will debut on Thursday, Aug. 11, and run through Sunday, Sept. 4, at the Solvang Festival Theater. The show previously ran at the Marian Theatre in Santa Maria in April and May.
The plot of this popular musicalāwith songs by legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheimāinterweaves a variety of classic fairy tale and storybook characters, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and the Big Bad Wolf. Roger DeLaurier, the director behind PCPAās iteration of Into the Woods, described the musical as a āfascinating, funny, and heartfelt piece of theatre,ā in press materials.
āThe density of ideas, lyrics, music, and plot make Into the Woods a wonderful challenge for us as a company and for our audiences,ā DeLaurier said in a statement.Ā
The large ensemble cast of Into the Woods includes Yusef Seevers, Lexi Rhoades, Emily Trask, Erik Stein, Suzy Newman, Sydney Ennis, Cat Evans, Sierra Anastasi, Ekaterina Bouras, Gracie Jurczyk, Rhys Avants, George Walker, and others. The show is choreographed by Jay Brenneman and features sets designed by Jason Bolen and costumes by Sara Curran Ice.
