This summer, PCPA will unleash a tale that takes the term āanimal loverā to a whole new level. Greg brings home a dog, bearing only the name āSylviaā on her nametag, from the park and finds an escape from the frustrations of his job and the emotions that come with middle age. Sylvia (Stephanie Philo) becomes a major bone of contention between Greg (Peter S. Hadres) and wife Kate (Catalina Maynard), putting a strain on their 22-year marriage.
Patricia M. Troxel directs, with scenic design by Dave Nofsinger, costumes by Juliane Starks, lighting by Michael Frohling, and sound by Walter T.J. Clissen.
A.R. Gurney opened Sylvia in 1995, featuring Sarah Jessica Parker in the title role. The show was nominated for three Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Play, Actress, and Costume Design.
