Stage Scene L.A., which reviews performing arts, recently recognized PCPA’s 2009 Summer Season with 11 awards. Editor Steven Stanley reviewed 256 eligible productions throughout L.A. and surrounding areas—including Solvang—between Sept. 1, 2008, and Aug. 31, 2009.
PCPA’s awards include Best Director for Roger DeLaurier for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Les Miserables, and Best Performance by an Actor for Erik Stein and Sam Zeller for Les Miserables, along with Outstanding Achievement Awards to Michael Jenkinson for directing The Music Man and Callum Morris’s musical directing for Les Miserables and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Other awards included Best Ensemble (Musical) for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Best Performance by a Lead Actress (Musical) for Jackie Vanderbeck in The Music Man, Best Ensemble (Musical) for The Music Man, and Best Featured Actor (Musical) for Erik Stein in The Music Man.
