The Santa Maria Police Activities League (P.A.L.) kicked off its fall 18-U baseball league in fine fashion, winning the Mountain Baseball Tournament in Tehachapi on Aug. 1.

Righetti High School’s Nick Bischoff pitched a complete game against the Tehachapi Trojans in the championship, recording a 7-3 win. The team was propelled into the finals thanks to stellar pitching from Pioneer High School’s Shaun Perez and Righetti’s Darrell McWhorter and Jack Dunn IV. Righetti infielder Ryan Bendele was named the tournament’s M.V.P.
