The Orcutt Academy High School’s male quartet Soundsations won top honors at the Far Western District Barbershop Convention in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 19 after achieving a high score for the performance of two songs. The group of students has participated in Central Coast Chordsmen Barbershop Chapter events like the Youth in Harmony Festival, and accepted the invitation by the Chordsmen to the convention.

The quartet includes (pictured left to right) baritone Chase Bradley, bass Mason Oakes, lead David Genge, and tenor Colin Alm. All are students of Orcutt Academy’s Choral Director Donna Kintzi. Soundsations performed “I Don’t Know Why” and “Driving Me Crazy,” scoring more than 500 points for a ranking of 84.3 percent, according to a release from the Central Coast Chordsmen Barbershop Chapter.
