• Fallin’ 4 A Purpose: The second annual VIP skydiving event is coming Oct. 9, sponsored by Roblar Winery and Skydive Santa Barbara. VIP jumpers will have access to their own tents and lounge areas, private airport parking, a breakfast bar, live music, a silent auction, a VIP dinner, and admission to the “Country Harvest” festival. • “Creepy Creatures” at Cachuma: Kids will have close encounters with bats, owls, scorpions, spiders, snakes, and more at the Cachuma Lake Nature Center’s “Creepy Creatures” event on Oct. 22. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors will get in the Halloween spirit with witches, arts and craft activities, and balloons. • Memorial Boxing Event: A boxing show in Santa Maria for law enforcement officers, firefighters, and public safety volunteers takes place Oct. 22. The event will be a fundraiser in remembrance of fallen peace officer Derrick Rush. The card will feature 10 matches, with fighters subject to change. Donations of any amount more than $199 will qualify for VIP ringside tickets. Location and times are to be determined. • Santa Barbara County Golf Championship: Entries are being accepted for the 36-hole championship tournament, held at the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc Oct. 22 to 23. The tournament is open to amateur golfers 18 and older. The cost is $150 and includes green fees, a prize fund, and a barbecue. Carts are optional and cost $10 each day.
