The fourth annual Follow The Star Community Candlelight Service takes place Dec. 18 at the Nipomo High School (NHS) gymnasium. The candlelight service includes dinner, dessert, and a performance by local musicians.
Follow The Star also serves as a fundraiser to benefit the NHS Athletics Department and The Nipomo Food Basket. The event is free, but the community is encouraged to donate canned food and other non-perishable food items.Ā
In the last three years, Follow The Star has raised more than 900 pounds of food for the Nipomo Food Basket. The Nipomo Food Basket provides fresh produce, bread, meat, and canned and boxed food items to families in need.
The NHS Athletic Department is also collecting donations. The department provides transportation, uniforms, and tournament fees to more than 600 student athletes.
Churches Together Nipomo sponsors Follow The Star. Churches Together is made up of several Central Coast churches including St. Josephās Catholic Church, Calvary Chapel, New Beginnings, and The City Church.
