The second annual Exhibit and Awards of the National Arts Program will be on display through Oct. 24 in the Santa Maria Public Library, 421 S. McClelland St. The show features the work of employees of the city of Santa Maria and Santa Maria Valley school districts and their family members.
There will also be a reception and awards presentation on Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the gallery.
Awards for first, second, third, and honorable mention will be awarded by classification: Adult (Amateur, Intermediate, and Professional) and Youth/Teen (12 and younger/13 to 18). Best in Show and two Peopleās Choice Awards (one for Adults and one for Youth/Teen) will also be awarded.
A variety of media will be on exhibit, including paintings, works on paper, watercolors, drawings, photography, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts, and sculpture.
Started by Leonard Andrews in Philadelphia in 1985, the National Arts Program currently sponsors 89 annual programs, encompassing more than 450 cities and counties within 42 states and the District of Columbia.
