Hancock College student Michael Vaughn challenges onlookers to ā€œFace the Machineā€ with his mural to be dedicated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on May 7 at the northwest corner of North H Street and West Chestnut Avenue in Lompoc. Vaughn will be on hand for the dedication and to discuss his painting with attendees.

His colorful 8-by-20-foot mural is the latest to be selected by the Lompoc Mural Society as a Community Canvas Mural.

The mural depicts juxtaposed consumerism and greed with images of peace and compassion and will be on display for the next several months. The project is made possible through a partnership between Allan Hancock College and the Lompoc Mural Society, with the goal of highlighting student artwork and promoting art education.
