Run … or walk to the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Center or City Hall to pick up an application for the 11th annual Bull Canyon Run, scheduled for May 9.

More than 600 runners and walkers are expected at 8 a.m. for the 5K and 10K event, which starts and finishes at the Edwards Community Center, 809 Panther Drive. From there, the run winds east out of the downtown area and heads down Bull Canyon Road. Participants in the 10K won’t turn around until they get almost to Highway 166.

The fastest runners will receive awards, and all participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt and a medal. Costs to participate are $20 for adult runners and $15 for youth runners and walkers. Registration will be accepted on the day of the event for $5 more.

The run is presented by Stowasser Pontiac-Buick-GMC and sponsored by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a fundraising organization for Special Olympics.
