To coincide with Mother’s Day weekend, The C Gallery in Los Alamos will present a mother/daughter photography exhibit featuring the work of Vicki Mitchell and her daughter Michelle Mitchell Drewes.
The show, “Walking in the Hills,” will run through June 13. In addition to the photography, there will be contemporary sculptures, adding to the theme of walking, by Mary Dee Thompson of Santa Barbara.
Vicki’s work is often characterized by pastoral beauty. Much of her work is local and regional. She’s a member of the Artist’s Guild of Santa Ynez Valley.
Drewes’ work, like her mother’s, has a beautiful aesthetic, but with a contemporary edge. Much of her work is driven by extensive travel, both domestic and international.
Thompson brings sparse and elegant sculptures to emphasize the trees and branches theme. Her work is stick-like in many of her bronze pieces, while minimal, raw, and abstracted in others.
