Best Family Adventures: San Luis Obispo County, 2nd Edition has hit bookstore shelves just in time for the holiday season. Orcutt resident Jennifer Best’s 258-page guide to outdoor family fun includes updated club contact numbers, descriptive details for parks that have been renovated, and new trail and family-friendly venue information.

The original release sold nearly 3,500 copies and has won support from the local community of outdoor enthusiasts. The book’s success allowed Best to hire a local graphic artist and a photographer for this edition. Best said being able to support community members in producing her book was an added bonus.

The new edition offers more than 400 updated listings, each of which includes place name, address, phone number, website address, price range, driving directions, and a written description of the adventure at hand. There are also dozens of photos throughout the book to further illustrate just what San Luis Obispo County has to offer, plus farmers markets schedules, chambers of commerce, arts organizations, clubs, and more.

The book is organized by city, with one chapter dedicated to each of the county’s 18 largest communities and an additional chapter covering outlying areas and a few of her favorite adventures across county lines.
