Local dance instructor David King, who owned Kings of Swing Dance Studio with his wife, Marie King, passed away on Jan. 5 at the age of 68 following complications from a neuromuscular disease, Marie told the Sun. Her husband left behind a legacy of education and mentorship for locals who enjoyed the art of dance, she said.
āDance was not just a business for David, it was a ministry of love,ā she said. āHe always told me that people didnāt just come in to dance, they came in for other reasons; they wanted to meet people, or gain confidence, and so he took a personal interest in everyoneās life that he taught.ā
King is survived by his wife and children and several grandchildren. But he will also be remembered by the students and dance teachers he mentored, Marie said.Ā
A memorial service is scheduled for Jan.Ā 22 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, located at 2620 Santa Maria Way,
Santa Maria.
