The Nipomo Community Services District will present one last chance to learn about water-smart gardening with its free spring 2009 gardening workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on April 18 at the district office at 148 S. Wilson in Nipomo.
According to the district, manicured landscapes seen in most neighborhoods account for as much as 60 percent of residential water use in California. Water-smart landscapes use much less water, save money, and protect creeks and aquifers by not contributing to polluted runoff.
The workshop, presented by Celeste Whitlow, is āSages, Grasses, and Ceanothus,ā and will focus on the drought-tolerant favorites of California landscapers.
The workshop is free, but seating is limited. Register at 929-1133, Ext. 222, or cwhitlow@ncsd.ca.gov.
Arts Briefs is compiled by Shelly Cone. Information should be sent to the Sun via fax, e-mail, or mail.
