The city of Lompoc announced a new Charlotte’s Web bookmobile, which will “weave a web of fun” with stops throughout Lompoc this summer. The bookmobile is named after longtime Lompoc civic leader and entrepreneur Charlotte Benton, and the vehicle is a green-energy fueled mobile children’s book library.

The bookmobile is scheduled for stops at festivals, camps, and other events this summer. It’s also available for locations on request. Benton was Lompoc’s first woman mayor and a lifelong reader who gave her property to the city in 1997 to be a children’s library. The mobile library was part of her vision as well.

More information is available through Lompoc’s youth librarian Courtney Rogness at c_rogness@ci.lompoc.ca.us or 875-8774.
