The Lompoc Valley Master Chorale is preparing for a celebration of American music, both classic and new, for two performances on May 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will showcase the chorale, now in its 23rd season, under the baton of Kathleen Hacker with accompanying pianist Yun Murphy.

The concert will feature American folk music as well as chorale settings by composers like William Billings, Randall Thompson, Aaron Copeland, Stephen Paulus, Donald Busarow, Kevin Memley, and Mack Wilberg. The concert will also feature the 2015 Lompoc Valley Master Chorale scholarship winners, a youth choral formed especially for the concert.

The concert costs $15, $10 for students, and takes place at the First United Methodist Church, 925 N. F St., Lompoc. More information is available at lvmasterchorale.org.
