The Lompoc Valley Arts Council, a local volunteer organization that promotes visual and performing arts in the Lompoc Valley, has released its monthly meeting schedule of public forums.

The forums will feature artistic presentations, with the upcoming program ā€œAn Introduction to American Roots Musicā€ scheduled for Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Stone Pine Hall, 210 South H St., in Lompoc. The program is to be led by bluegrass aficionado Bill Carsen, who will discuss the various folk music considered ā€œroots music,ā€ including the styles, places, and storytelling traditions surrounding the art. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with an arts mixer at 6:30 p.m.
