The Lompoc Music Association announced the audition date and requirements for local music students hoping to compete for scholarships. The competition is open to students ages 14 through 18 who live within the Lompoc Unified School District’s borders.

The audition takes place March 26 at 1 p.m. at the Valley of the Flowers Church of Christ, 3346 Constellation Road, Vandenberg Village. Prior to the audition, hopefuls must complete a written application postmarked by March 22. Applications are available at the Lompoc High School and Cabrillo High School counselors’ offices, at the Lompoc Library’s teen section, and at the Lompoc School of Music.

Students who are proficient in vocal performance, piano, stringed instruments, wind instruments, or percussion are urged to apply. Some students who are homeschooled or attend schools other than Lompoc Unified School District schools are also eligible to apply. Performers must provide their own accompanist.

More information is available through the Lompoc Music Association’s auditions chairperson, Lola Day, at 736-1820.
