The annual Spring Skate Board competition slides into Lompoc’s skate park on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Open to all skaters 7 years old and above, there will be a best run and best trick category for several different age groups. The event is co-sponsored by Lompoc Parks and Recreation and the Surf Connection.

Lompoc Foursquare Church will be around with free popcorn and snow cones, and there will be music and raffle prizes. All participants must comply with the skate park rules and regulations, as well as wear all the necessary safety equipment.

The cost is $5 per event category. Registration begins at 10 a.m. that day, but early registration is available at the Lompoc Parks and Rec. office, 125 W. Walnut Ave. Lompoc’s skate park is located in College Park off West College Avenue, adjacent to Lompoc High School.
