Children aged 6 to 12 (and their parents) can learn the basics of fishing at the fifth annual “Take Me Fishing” event on Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Participants will take part in catch and release fishing, a casting contest, fish printing activities, and learn about lake life and watershed conservation. Fishing experience isn’t required. Loaner fishing poles, tackle, and bait will be provided for all parent/child pairs, and organizers will hand out free commemorative hats to the first 100 kids in attendance.
The event is free and takes place at Jim May Park at 809 Stanford Drive in Santa Maria.
