For the sixth year, the Cachuma Lake Center is sponsoring two summer fishing workshops for kids 7 to 15 years old.

Local anglers will share their expertise in fishing for trout, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and large and smallmouth bass. Teaching sessions will also cover knot tying, casting, fly-fishing, and fly-tying.

The workshops will take place July 18 and Aug. 22 and are limited to 50 participants at each session. Parents are invited to listen in on sessions and are urged to remain with younger children. All equipment will be provided, and each child will be given a small bag of fishing supplies sponsored by Santa Barbara County Fish and Game Commission.

Class registration begins at 8:45 a.m., and the sessions will last until about noon. Aside from the $8 parking fee per vehicle, the workshops are free.
