Children ages 7 to 15 can learn to fish with the best anglers around at the Cachuma Lake Nature Center’s Kids’ Fishing Workshop on July 23.
Expert fishermen will teach kids basic fishing skills, beginning at 8:45 a.m. and lasting until noon. Children will learn knot tying; casting; trout fishing; rigging for bass, crappie, and blue gill; and salt-water fishing. Parents are welcome to observe. Registration is free and limited to the first 50 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
The workshop will be held in honor of Neal Taylor, an expert angler who founded the Nature Center in 1988 and passed away in February at the age of 78. Taylor was active as a Nature Center Board member and as a lead participant in fishing workshops held at the Nature Center, including the center’s annual Trout Derby.
For more information on the workshop, call 693-0691 or e-mail julie@clnaturecenter.org.
