The Lompoc Valley Art Association will hold its monthly meeting and art program at 6:30 p.m. on June 1 at the Alpha Clubhouse, 704 E. Ocean Ave., in Lompoc.
Guest artists will be Kathy Badrak and Karen Osland, whose presentation will be “Basket Making, One of Our Oldest Crafts.” They’ll discuss basketry techniques and many materials.
Badrak is an artist and teacher who used several media to connect herself and her students to people and places.
Osland is a naturalist whose main interest is ethnobotany. She enjoys leading interpretive hikes that explain the relationship of participants to their surroundings. She uses plants and basketry to foster a connection to environments and is an active member of the Central Coast Basketweavers.
Together they founded Lavenpine Consulting, a small, woman-owned business to further their goals of connecting people to their environments. For more information, call 737-1129.
