Golf can be a psychologically draining game, but for committed athletes like Orcutt Academy High School junior Karli Lundberg, overcoming obstacles of all kinds is no problem.Ā

Although Lundberg had a slow start this season, head coach Jim McManus said she took it upon herself to be a leader, showing Orcutt’s younger golfers that hard work really does pay off. Lundberg quickly made her way to the front of Ocean League, where she placed first and was crowned MVP in the finals.Ā

“She is just a real go-getter,” McManus said. “It’s very exciting to coach someone like that.”

Lundberg, 16, will be back next year, and McManus said she hopes to play in college after that.Ā

“She has a very bright future and is a huge part of the success we had this season,” he said.Ā
