Springtime means spring sports at the Santa Maria Valley YMCA, with a range of programs to keep children and adults active and fit.

First, the Y’s progressive swim lessons for children ages 3 and older teaches water awareness and introductory skills for beginner and intermediate swimmers. Spring break, evening, and private swim lessons are also available. Private lessons are 30 minutes long and can be scheduled any day of the year, providing one-on-one instruction for all ages and all abilities.

The YMCA is also taking registrations for arena soccer. Men’s, women’s, coed, and over-35 divisions are offered. Games are Monday to Friday and the registration deadline is April 15. The cost is $400 for YMCA member teams and $425 for participant teams.

Finally, rookie T-ball for children ages 3 to 6 is on the spring sports schedule. The registration deadline is April 22. The cost is $48 for YMCA members and $63 for other participants. Financial assistance is available for all classes.
