When David Bushey, 43, had a heart attack, he was saved by a Pismo Beach police officer who used an automated external defibrillator (AED) to restart Bushey’s heart. Now, Bushey is trying to raise money to buy more AEDs and distribute them throughout SLO County.

Money raised during the Save a Life Golf Tournament—set for noon on Oct. 10—will go toward that cause. An ultimate sponsorship of $1,500 covers the cost of an AED and the required training for its use. Hole sponsorships are also available. The event includes a dinner, raffle, and silent auction.

The tournament will be held at Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo. Call 748-5294 to enter.
