The city of Santa Maria is inviting local families out to the third annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 5. The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department along with The People for Leisure and Youth Inc. (PLAY Inc.) will provide cocoa and cookies and even welcomes Christmas carolers to the event.
Local cancer survivor Annika Juul-Borre will flip the switch that lights up the tree. Following the lighting will be the official ribbon cutting for the new Downtown Trolley. The even starts at 5:15 p.m. at Santa Maria City Hall, on the corner of Broadway and Cook streets. More information is available at 925-0951, Ext. 260, or cityofsantamaria.org.
