The Police Activities League (P.A.L.), the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, and P.L.A.Y., Inc. are combining forces to put on an amateur boxing show in Santa Maria on Sept. 8.

Doors open at the Minami Community Center at 6 p.m., with the first bout scheduled for 7 p.m. The show is sanctioned by USA Boxing of Southern California and includes eight bouts, music, food, and a special performance by local singer Josue Hernandez.

A limited number of pre-sale tickets are on sale for $5 at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, 600 S. McClelland St., until Sept. 4.

Admission is $10 at the door. Proceeds from this event go to fund P.A.L.’s various programs.
