A new installation at Flying Goat Cellars Tasting Room will feature Nancy Holly Photography “Hoofbeats in the Wind,” benefiting Return to Freedom wild horse and burro sanctuary in Lompoc. A photographer’s reception will launch the exhibit on Oct. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. The tasting room is located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto at 1520 E. Chestnut Court, Unit A.
Holly’s artist statement says, “For as long as I can remember I have been looking through a lens. … The day that I married my love of horses with my passion for photography was the day that my creative purpose was defined. I am deeply committed by this passion and purpose to give photographic life to the majestic spirit and grace of the equine. … To this end I look through the lens of my camera with my heart.”
The exhibit is part of Flying Goat Cellars Wine & Culture in the Ghetto series, which began in May 2011. Previous events include “Wine Ghetto Portraits” by Fran Collin; “Local Vineyards” by Jules Reuter III; “Wine Art” by Christina LoCascio Larner; plein air paintings by Jon Arnold; poetry readings by James Kotsybar and Ella Gale; a book signing by speaker and life coach Bill Poett; live music by Jazz Divine Duo; poetry and interactive readings by Lisa McCool-Grime; and handweavings by Sandra Rude. ∆
