After its most winning season in more than a decade, the Allan Hancock College women’s basketball team announced it will be holding a week-long basketball camp this summer.
According to Hancock Athletics, the clinic will run from June 16 to 20 at the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Each session will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Coach Cary Nerelli, who led the team to 13 wins in his first season as coach, wants to continue nurturing a symbiotic relationship with the community.
“Not only will we focus on teaching the basic fundamentals of basketball, we will also emphasize the importance of a positive attitude, solid work ethic, and respect for the game,” Nerelli said in the press release.
The camp is aimed at players ages 6 to 13; all skill levels are welcome. Hancock and players will provide instruction throughout the clinic.
Registration is $75 and includes a T-shirt that can be used as free admission to home games during the 2014-2015 season.
“We need to raise finances to help defer the ever-growing costs of running a first-rate basketball program,” Nerelli said in the press release. “The camp is a win-win because the campers learn valuable skills, our players become more aware and knowledgeable, and we earn much needed funds for our basketball program.”
