The Allan Hancock College Board of Trustees on July 19 approved funding to build a long-awaited new track at the Santa Maria campus and improve the school’s soccer and football fields.

Flintco Pacific, Inc., is expected to break ground on the Industrial Technology and Physical Education/Athletic Fields Project in July 2012. The company will build the new track on the land currently occupied by John Osborne Field and will move the baseball field to a vacant lot across the street from the campus.

As part of the project, a practice field for the football team and a soccer field will also be built along College Drive, and a technology building will be erected on the site of the current track.
