A one-night live reading of the Toy Story script takes place Dec. 9, at Grace Baptist Church. The community is invited to attend the free, nonprofit event.Ā

ā€œToy Story is a script that’s left a positive, nostalgic mark on our generation,ā€ organizer Weston Scott told the Sun. ā€œIt’s both an honor and an artistic challenge to bring a fresh interpretation to life.ā€Ā

Admission is free, but donations will be given to the Ian M. Hassett Foundation, which offers a $1,000 art scholarship to Righetti High School seniors every year. The foundation also awards a $1,000 art grant through the annual Santa Maria Arts Council Grant Showcase. Ā

The Ian M. Hassett Foundation was officially recognized by the state in 2013, one year after Righetti graduate Ian Hassett died of cancer.Ā

ā€œTo involve the community in an event that allows us to have fun and give back to a foundation that honors our late friend Ian is more than we could ever ask for,ā€ organizer Alexandra Wallace told the Sun. For more info about the Ian M. Hassett Foundation, visit ianmhassett.com.

The Toy Story reading starts at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9, at Grace Baptist Church, located at 605 E. McCoy Lane, Santa Maria. More info: contact Wallace at alexandra@alexandra-wallace.com.
