Triathletes of all ages are welcome to put their best to the test at the City of Lompoc Parks, Recreation, and Urban Forestry Department’s fourth annual Lompoc Sprint Triathlon on Aug. 14.

The competition consists of a 500-yard swim, 11-mile bike ride, and 3.1-mile run, and begins with the first wave of swimmers at 8 a.m. The entry cost is $50 for individuals and $90 for relays.

In addition, the department is holding its fourth annual Lompoc Junior Tri for children on Aug. 14. For those 10 and younger, the race consists of a 50-yard swim, 1-mile bike ride, and 1/4-mile run. Participants 11 to 14 years old are required to complete a 100-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride, and 1/2-mile run. The race will begin at approximately 11 a.m. The cost is $20 for individuals and $40 for relays.

Participants can register at the Anderson Recreation Center, located at 125 W. Walnut Ave., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays until Aug. 13. Entry forms are also available at the Lompoc Aquatic Center and at cityoflompoc.com.

All events will take place at the Lompoc Aquatic Center, located at 207 W. College Ave.
