Registration is currently open for the 2010 season of Santa Maria Girls Softball, a league created for players aged 5 to 16.

Sign-ups will take place Jan. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Jan. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Minami Community Center, located at 600 W. Enos. Late registration will be held Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with an added $10 late fee.

Fees are $125 for the first child of a family, $105 for a second child, and $85 for a third. Discounts apply only to children of the same household. New and returning players need to bring a birth certificate and a utility bill or rental agreement as proof of address.

In other softball news, the league’s annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 20 at the Minami Center. The meeting will cover SMGS league bylaws for the recreational season, all-stars, and general membership and review rules of play for the 2010 season.
