The Wildling Art Museum in Los Olivos is planning a four-day, three-night trip to Sequoia and King’s Canyon national parks. The trip, scheduled for Oct. 9 through 12, will be led by retiring Wildling Art Museum Director Penny Knowles and her husband Joseph. It’s designed to complement the educational experience provided by the museum’s fall exhibition, ā€œIn Altitude: Four Views of the Southern Sierra,ā€ which runs from Sept. 20 through Jan. 3, 2010.

Ā

Accommodations at Wuksachi Lodge will allow for two full days of exploration. The first will be spent visiting such sites as the Giant Forest, Moro Rock, Crescent Meadow, Round Meadow, Sunset Rock, the General Sherman Tree, the Wolverton area, and Tokopah Falls accompanied by former park ranger and current vice-chair of the Sequoia Parks Foundation, Bill Tweed. On the second day, the group will take the scenic road to King’s Canyon where they will picnic at the Cedar Grove before returning to Wuksachi.

Ā

The trip costs $650 and includes round trip transportation from Santa Barbara or Los Olivos, three nights’ double occupancy accommodations, 10 meals, snacks en route, and a small contribution to the museum.
