The Central Coast provides a perfect climate and ecosystem for bald eagles. The Neal Taylor Nature Center at Cachuma Lake is preparing to share the wonder of these seasonal, iconic inhabitants with the community.
The regularly scheduled wildlife cruises that the nature center offers become eagle cruises during eagle season, which starts in November.Ā As of August, however, bald eagle sightings began on Cachuma Lake. The regular naturalist-guided pontoon boat tours offer a front-row seat to a diverse array of flora and fauna that flourishes in the Cachuma Lake area.
The tours aboard The Osprey are two hours long and are available Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon and Friday and Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Neal Taylor Nature Center at Cachuma Lake. Cruise fees are $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 12 and under, children under 4 are not permitted on the cruise. Park entry is $10 per vehicle for non campers.
