The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department has announced a new volunteer program, “Step Up Santa Maria,” which helps the department build a stronger and healthier community while volunteers build their résumés.
An orientation event for “Step Up Santa Maria” volunteers is May 3 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, 600 S. McClelland St., Santa Maria.
